MOHAMED SAHABDEEN AWARDS
A M M SAHABDEEN TRUST FOUNDATION
Incorporated by Act of Parliament No.3 of 1991, Sri Lanka
The Directors of the Trust Foundation inaugurated in 1992 a programme
of excellence to reward men and women of outstanding achievements,
as a standard of recognition and encouragement for collective progress.
These awards are open to any individual or association that has played an exceptional
part in contributing to human development through science, international peace,
literature and the arts irrespective of regional considerations. The bio data
of applicants is carefully evaluated by the Board of Advisers for final selection.
In pursuance of the educational and social objectives of the Foundation,
applications/nominations are invited for the above Awards. Each Award will
carry an outright cash grant, a citation and a certificate
Eligibility:
Any person or association of persons who has made outstanding
contribution to the following disciplines is eligible to be
considered for these Awards: |

the furtherance of inter-cultural, inter-religious, inter-disciplinary or international understanding;
- The advancement of science, including socio-economic, medical, engineering, conservation and environmental sciences;
- literature and the creative arts, history, philosophy, law, religious studies, and mass media;
- human development and related fields

Evaluation and Selections |
|
|
All applications/nominations will be evaluated by an independent Selection Board in accordance
with the rules of the Foundation. The decision of the Foundation shall be final.
Applications or nominations should consist of bio-data with comprehensive personal
and professional details, publications and other necessary information. The Foundation may
call for additional details if required.

Former vice president of the International Court of Justice , Hague , Netherlands received the Mohamed Sahabdeen Award for International Understanding.He later won UNESCO prize for peace Education in 2006. |

Former Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) (1974-1984) and Former Chancellor, Open University of Sri Lanka received the Mohamed Sahabdeen Award for International Understanding. (1994)

Professor Muhammad Yunus
Reputed Economist, Banker, Social Reformer and Author received the Mohamed Sahabdeen Award for Socio Economic Science. (1994) He was later awarded the Nobel prize for peace in 2006.
